B35 Convention Stats:
- Attendance: 461 approximately (391 paid memberships).
- Charity/Non-Profit Donations ($2,000 total): Bubonicon 35 donated $900 to the SFWA Emergency Medical Fund, $850 to the Williamson Collection at Eastern NM University’s Golden Library, and $250 to the local Roadrunner Food Bank. The Charity Auction on Friday evening raised $440 for these organizations, and the rest came from convention proceeds.
B35 Art Show Stats & Awards:
We had sales of more than $5,500 and showed the works of 28 artists. Commissions earned $827 for Bubonicon. Many artists such as Jim Humble, Peri Charlifu, David Martin, Michael Georges and Charles Vess were on hand throughout the weekend. Because of how well Bubonicon 35 did, there will be a complete overhaul of the display flats this fall. On the paperwork side, expect a few more clarifications on the rules and forms in the next year.

- Best of Show - Professional: Peri Charlifu.
B35 Costume Contest:

B35 Programming Notes:
Charles de Lint and Charles Vess’ lines during the Mass Autographing Session were very long and lasted 90 minutes. Jane Lindskold hosted a 60-minute Writing Seminar on “Beginnings, Middles and Endings,†which 25 people (the maximum) attended. Lobo Anime & Comics sponsored the Anime Room for the 3rd year in a row, while SWFT hosted a Video Room (mostly British) upstairs. Main Gaming was held in J.B.’s Restaurant conference area (like last year) while Computer Gaming was held in Room 143, across from the con suite. Readings were scheduled much later into the evenings than in prior years, due to the number of participants. So far, participants have indicated that these later time slots still were well attended. The Dead Dog was held in the con suite Sunday evening, hosted by Rose and Matthew from Denver. And comments in the Suggestion Box seem to indicate that the two most popular panels were “Alien Archaeology†and the “Short Attention Span Theater.â€
B35 Green Slime Awards:
- Novel: The Fifth Sorceress by Robert Newcomb.
- Film: Darkness Falls (formerly The Tooth Fairy).
- TV: Sci-Fi Channel for canceling Farscape, and for even showing Scare Tactics.
Fox for showing Firefly out of order and canceling it. - Science: Acculabs, makers of the VI-1mg digital scientific scale (keep away from gravitational fields).
- Music: Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers soundtrack for “Gollum’s Song.â€
- Marketing: The Roaring Hulk squeeze toy for kids (more like the whining Hulk).
