The Charity Auction on Friday evening raised $654 for these organizations, and the rest came from convention proceeds.

B36 Art Show Stats & Awards:

We had sales of more than $6,990 and showed the works of 56 artists. Commissions earned $1,048 for Bubonicon. Many artists such as Jim Humble, Peri Charlifu, David Martin, and David Mattingly were on hand throughout the weekend. Because of how well Bubonicon 36 did with our new art display flats, we will be working on a glass case for jewelry. On the paperwork side, expect yet a few more clarifications on the rules and forms in the next year.

B36 Programming Notes:

Having the Mass Autographing Session at 90 minutes helped avoid long lines. Robert Vardeman hosted a 60-minute Writing Seminar on “So Many Genres, So Little Time,†which 25 people attended. Lobo Anime & Comics sponsored the Anime Room for the 4th year in a row, while SWFT hosted the Media Room (videos, game show and a speaker) upstairs. Gaming had a lot more room in their new venue. Readings were scheduled much later into the evenings than in prior years, due to the number of participants. Scott Phillips’ EDP screening of The Stink of Flesh drew 80-100 people late Saturday night. The Dead Dog was held in the con suite Sunday evening, hosted by Rose and Matthew from Denver. And comments in the Suggestion Box seem to indicate that the most popular programming was anything with Connie Willis and Gardner Dozois. The General Auction on Sunday had total sales of $918, with $573 of that going to Bubonicon (FROOMB went for $55 for those keeping score). Participants: Only Jack Williamson had to cancel his appearance - while newcomers to Bubonicon were Dawn Matheson and Michelle M. Welch.
