In this third film in the continuing saga of the undead from writer/director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead), a small group of scientists and soldiers have taken refuge in an underground missile silo in Florida where they struggle to control the flesh-eating horror that walks the earth above.  But will the final battle for the future of the human race be fought among the living or have they forever unleashed the hunger of the dead?
Dr. Logan, the lead scientist (nicknamed “Frankenstein” by the soldiers because of his grisly surgical dissections of the zombies), believes that the undead plague victims can be made docile and domesticated through training and conditioning. He keeps a collection of captive undead for use as test subjects in a large underground corral in the compound.  Logan is especially proud of “Bub,” a docile zombie who remembers some parts of his past life and engages in rudimentary human behavior.

Lori Cardille, Joe Pilato and Richard Liberty star in this controversial classic with groundbreaking gore effects by Tom Savini, assisted by a team of artists that included Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger, who later became known for their work on the television series The Walking Dead.

“The zombies in Day of the Dead are marvels of special effects…” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“A fitting conclusion to a remarkably astute series, a landmark in the horror genre.” – Tom Charity, Time Out
