A pointed and darkly humorous look at the American public’s fascination with violence, director Oliver Stone’s gonzo road movie stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as Mickey and Mallory, two lovers whose bloody cross-country crime spree lands them in prison and makes them media-hyped celebrities.  With Robert Downey, Jr. as the host of a tabloid TV show, Tommy Lee Jones as a crazed warden, and Rodney Dangerfield as Mallory’s abusive father.

Principal photography took 56 days to shoot.  Filming locations included the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge just west of Taos, NM, where the wedding scene was filmed, and Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, ILL, where the prison riot was filmed.  Other NM sites included Albuquerque, Taos, Gallup, Redrock, San Jose, Farmington and Shiprock.
