ASFS Meeting

Plus Roslee Orndorff will be hosting a Halloween Edition of SF CatchPhrase! We’ll put together two teams of four players each to guess Halloween-themed words and pass off the clue wheel before the buzzer sounds.

Finally, the Fall issue of ASFacts will be out (deadline Sunday, October 4).

Newcomers and orderly guests are welcome. Food & Beverages cannot be brought into our new location!

Bubonicon 41 Begins

Bubonicon 41 begins its three days of undead and living fun, socializing, art appreciation and more at the Albuquerque Grand Airport Hotel on Yale Blvd SE, south of Gibson and north of the airport!

Registration and the Dealers Room open at 3:30 pm.

First programming begins at 4:00 pm.

Art Show, Gaming and Con Suite open at 5:00 pm.

Friday programming goes past midnight, ending whenever the Charity Auction is finished.

Zombies Invade Guild (again)

If you can’t get enough zombies at Bubonicon 41, the Weekly Alibi Midnight Movie Madness will present Dead Snow again 10:15 pm and Midnight Saturday, September 12, at the Guild Cinema.

Dead Snow is a 2008 Norwegian goretastic horror comedy from writer/director Tommy Wirkola that is finally blasting its way onto American screens. A ski vacation in a cabin in the Alps turns horrific when a group of Norwegian medical students is besieged by the unimaginable – a troop of thawed-out Nazi zombies who haunt the hills! There’s nothing left to do but break out the chainsaws, the snowmobiles and the anatomy books!

In Norwegian with English Subtitles, Dead Snow is 91 minutes long and rated R. Entertainment Weekly called it, “Cheery, silly, splattery, and respectful of its elders (and betters, particularly Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead)…[a] bloody/cheesy Scandinavian lark.”

The Guild Cinema is located at 3405 Central Ave NE, in the Nob Hill area across from Flying Star Café and Starbuck’s. All seats $7.00, cash only.
